He led migrant farm workers and average Americans in understanding human dignity and rights through peaceful protest such as boycotts; and prayer. The first "activist" activity I ever participated in was a boycott of California grapes (to show support of Chavez's migrant farm workers) when I was in elementary school. I learned in those days to think and live passionately in behalf of others. That became part of how God has molded my life.
