Cesar Chavez was one of my childhood heroes (along with Martin Luther King, Jr. and many others). He led migrant farm workers and average Americans in understanding human dignity and rights through peaceful protest such as boycotts; and prayer.
The first “activist” activity I ever participated in was a boycott of California grapes (to show support of Chavez’s migrant farm workers) when I was in elementary school.
I learned in those days to think and live passionately in behalf of others. That became part of how God has molded my life.
